Forget cat ears and rainbow filters—let’s talk real photo enhancements. Here’s how to level up your photos in minutes.
1. Wipe that Lens
Smudgy lens = blurry photo. No app can fix that. Before you even start shooting, make it a habit to clean the lens. It’s a small step that makes a big difference. Carry a microfiber cloth with you on your collaborations.
2. Fix that Lighting (no fancy gear needed)
Lighting can make or break a shot. Dim restaurant? Cloudy day? Don’t sweat it.

- Indoor Shot: Auto-adjust brightens it a bit, but adjust brilliance, highlights, and shadows for a shot that pops.
- Partly Cloudy Shot: Dark subjects looking like a shadow? Auto struggles a bit, but adjusting brilliance and contrast pulls out the details.
- Cloudy Shot: Subtle edits to brilliance, highlights, and shadows can turn flat into fabulous, bringing out some of those details.
3. Boring Colors? Wake them Up!
Sometimes, your photos just feel…flat. The colors look dull and blah. It’s not the end of the world! A little editing can bring those colors to life.

Here are some examples with some quick snapshots:
- Rainy Mountain: Auto helps, but a touch of brilliance, contrast, vibrancy, and tint gives the shot a natural glow.
- Rainy Meadow: Even mediocre shots can shine! Adjusting highlights, shadows, and definition make it match how your eye remembers it.
What happens when you go overboard?
- Overdone Colors and Contrast: The colors become overly saturated and cartoonish. Bright, unrealistic colors can look too fake. It can even start to look pixel-y.
Here’s how to start adjusting your own photos:
- Auto Adjust: Hit the magic wand (iPhone: Edit > Auto). Instant boost.
- Manual Adjustments: Play with brilliance (brightens), highlights/shadows (contrast), vibrance (color boost), and a bit of definition (sharpness). Don’t go wild—subtlety wins.
Editing doesn’t have to be complicated—a few taps and you’ll see a noticeable difference.
